Red Crepe Tea Gown from the late 1940s. Possibly
French in origin, this fabulous piece has some amazing
detailing in the raised metal studding on the buttons
and hip panels. There is pretty gathering at the neck
and back waistline with rouleau looped buttonholes at
the neck. There is a side zip. Shoulder pads add to
the overall effect.
The
condition is really very good, with some very faint
marks that can barely be seen, some delicate mending
right right arm, and the metal studs have a little
rubbing. Otherwise, the dress is ready to wear. The
dress was probably made by a small dressmaking salon.
The
photograph left is taken from a photoshoot at the
Severn Valley Railway at Arley and featured in
Worcestershire Life.
